Community Guidelines
Last Revised: March 27, 2026
Welcome to Connections! To keep Connections a safe, respectful, and enjoyable community, all users must follow these Community Guidelines, in addition to our Terms of Service. By using Connections, you agree to abide by these guidelines. Violations can result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban. In serious cases, we may also report misconduct to the authorities. If you witness any violations of these guidelines, please report them through the app or by contacting us - we rely on our community to help us maintain a safe environment.
Connections Is Not for the Following:
-
Nudity & Sexual Content: Do not post or share pornographic or sexually explicit content. This includes images containing nudity, genitalia, or sexual acts, as well as explicit text or media in chat or Shots. Connections is not a place for erotic content. Keep it clean and appropriate for a general audience.
-
Harassment & Bullying: Treat other users with respect. We have zero tolerance for stalking, harassment, bullying, or intimidation. Do not threaten, blackmail, or deliberately insult anyone. If someone isn't interested or asks you to stop contacting them, respect their boundaries. Repeated unwanted contact will lead to removal. This applies to all interactions, including Shots, comments, likes, and direct messages.
-
Hate Speech & Discrimination: Connections is a hate-free zone. Do not engage in or promote hate speech, violent ideologies, or bigotry. This includes any attacks or slurs targeting a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age. Even if meant as a "joke," this content is not allowed. Be respectful and inclusive.
-
Violence & Threats: Do not post content that threatens, incites, glorifies, or expresses desire for violence against individuals or groups. This includes both direct and indirect threats. Content depicting graphic violence or gore is not permitted on Connections, including in Shots, profile photos, or messages.
-
Self-Harm, Suicide & Eating Disorders: Do not post content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. This includes pro-anorexia, pro-bulimia, and self-injury content. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact local crisis services or emergency responders. Connections cares about your well-being.
-
Privacy & Personal Information: Protect your privacy and others'. Do not publicly share personal information - this includes your own or anyone else's phone numbers, home or work address, financial information, government IDs, login credentials, or any other sensitive data. Similarly, do not ask other users for their private information. Connections profiles and Shots should not contain confidential details like social security numbers, passport info, banking details, etc.
-
Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery: Sharing intimate, sexual, or nude images or videos of another person without their explicit consent is strictly prohibited. This includes so-called "revenge pornography" as well as AI-generated or manipulated intimate imagery depicting real people. Violations will result in immediate permanent ban and may be reported to law enforcement.
-
Spam & Scams: Connections is not a platform for spam or commercial solicitation. Do not repeatedly send unwanted messages for commercial purposes. Don't attempt to redirect users to external websites, services, or phone numbers for any reason (including personal gain or fraud). Chain letters, junk messages, phishing attempts, and any kind of scam will result in an immediate ban.
-
Promotions & Advertising: We do not allow promotion of products, services, fundraising campaigns, or political propaganda. Do not use Connections to advertise or sell any goods or services. This includes multi-level marketing schemes, event promotions, referral codes, or any content whose primary purpose is to promote something. Connections is for personal connections, not business.
-
Prostitution & Trafficking: Under no circumstances may Connections be used for soliciting paid sexual services, escort services, or any form of sex trafficking or exploitation. Offering or requesting any kind of compensation (money, gifts, favors, etc.) in exchange for romantic or sexual interactions is strictly forbidden. Any indication of facilitating prostitution or human trafficking will result in immediate removal and may be reported to law enforcement.
-
Impersonation & Misrepresentation: Be yourself. Do not impersonate any other individual, celebrity, public figure, or entity. Do not create fake identities or misleading profiles. The photos and information you use should be your own (or you must have the rights to use them). Misleading others about your identity (such as using someone else's photos or using a fake name) is prohibited. Honesty is key to building trust on Connections.
-
Minors: You must be 18 or older to use Connections. We do not tolerate any use of the platform by minors or any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors. Do not include minors in your profile photos or Shots. If you are a parent and choose to share a family photo that includes a minor, you must be present in the photo, and it must be clear that the minor is not an account holder. However, we strongly discourage sharing images of minors at all to protect their privacy. Any profile found to be created by someone under 18 (or any content suggesting an underage user) will be removed. Likewise, any user attempting to contact a minor or facilitate inappropriate contact involving a minor will be banned and reported.
-
Intellectual Property: Only post content (including text, photographs, and other media) that you have the right to share. Do not upload or use content that you didn't create or don't have permission to use. This means no stealing or misusing other people's photos, no posting copyrighted images, and no plagiarizing someone's words. If you suspect someone is using your images or content without permission on Connections, please report it and we will take action.
-
One Person, One Account: Each person is allowed to maintain only a single account on Connections. Do not create multiple accounts for yourself, whether to bypass a previous ban or to deceive others. Additionally, do not share your account with anyone else or let someone log into your account to impersonate you. Your account is personal to you - if we find duplicate or shared accounts, we may terminate them.
-
Third-Party Apps & Bots: For the safety and privacy of our community, do not use any unauthorized third-party applications, scripts, bots, or software that interact with Connections. This includes services that claim to provide special features, cheats, or automation on Connections. Such tools can compromise account security and violate our Terms. If it's not an official Connections feature, please don't use it.
-
Inactive Accounts: To keep our community fresh and active, extremely old or inactive accounts may be removed. If an account is completely dormant (no logins or activity) for over 24 months (2 years), Connections reserves the right to delete the account and its data. (If you plan to be away for an extended period, consider logging in occasionally or using any "pause" feature if available, to avoid deletion.)
Shots-Specific Guidelines
Shots are public posts visible to all Connections users on the Discover timeline. Because Shots reach a wider audience than private messages, they carry additional responsibilities. In addition to all the above rules, the following apply specifically to Shots:
-
Synthetic & Manipulated Media: If you use AI tools to generate or significantly edit images, videos, or text in your Shots, you must clearly disclose this (e.g., "AI-generated" or "AI-edited"). Deepfake images, face-swaps, and other synthetic media created to deceive viewers are strictly prohibited. Connections reserves the right to label or remove synthetic content that is not properly disclosed.
-
Misleading & Deceptive Content: Shots must not contain deliberately false or misleading claims intended to deceive users. This includes fabricated personal stories designed to manipulate, misleading health claims, fake emergency situations, or impersonating other users' writing styles to create confusion.
-
Coordinated Manipulation: Do not use multiple accounts, automated tools, or coordinate with others to artificially inflate engagement (likes, visibility) on Shots, game trending hashtags, or manipulate the Discover feed. Such platform manipulation undermines trust and will result in enforcement action against all involved accounts.
-
Sensitive Content in Public Feeds: Because Shots appear in public feeds, be extra mindful of content that, while not necessarily violating our rules, may be disturbing or sensitive to a broad audience. Connections may apply sensitivity labels to Shots containing graphic, distressing, or adult-themed content and limit their visibility in feeds.
-
Hashtag Abuse: Do not use irrelevant, misleading, or excessive hashtags to artificially boost the visibility of your Shots. Hashtags should be relevant to the content of your Shot.
-
Repetitive & Duplicate Content: Posting the same or substantially similar Shots repeatedly to flood the feed is considered spam and will be removed.
Content Moderation Approach
Connections uses a combination of technology and human review to enforce these guidelines:
-
Automated Systems: We employ AI and machine learning tools to proactively detect and flag potential violations across Shots, profiles, and messages. These systems help us identify nudity, spam, hate speech, and other prohibited content at scale. Automated systems may immediately remove clearly violating content (such as CSAM) or flag borderline content for human review.
-
Human Moderators: Trained content moderators review flagged content, user reports, and appeals. Human judgment is applied to assess context, intent, satire, cultural nuance, and severity before enforcement decisions are made.
-
Proactive & Reactive: We both proactively scan publicly visible content and reactively review content that is reported by users. Safety-critical categories (child safety, imminent threats) are given highest priority.
Enforcement
We take these guidelines seriously. Enforcement is graduated and proportionate based on the severity and frequency of violations:
- First Offense (minor violation): Content removal + written warning explaining the violation.
- Repeat Offenses: Content removal + temporary feature restrictions (e.g., inability to post Shots or send messages for a defined period).
- Serious Violations: Immediate content removal + account suspension (temporary or permanent) depending on severity.
- Severe Violations (zero tolerance): Immediate permanent ban + potential law enforcement referral. This applies to child exploitation, terrorism, credible threats of violence, sex trafficking, and non-consensual intimate imagery.
Connections reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, what constitutes a violation and to take appropriate action. We err on the side of safety — if content is borderline, we may restrict its visibility while it is under review.
Appeals
We recognize that content moderation is complex and mistakes can happen. If you believe your content was removed or your account was restricted in error, you have the right to appeal:
- Submit an appeal within 30 days of the enforcement action by emailing connections@dating-universe.com or using the in-app appeal feature.
- Appeals are reviewed by a different human moderator than the one who made the original decision.
- We aim to resolve appeals within 15 business days.
- You will be notified of the outcome via email or in-app notification.
Note: Content involving child sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate imagery, and credible threats of violence is not eligible for appeal and will never be restored.
Reporting
See someone breaking the rules or making you feel unsafe? Report them. You can report profiles, Shots, or specific messages in-app using the report feature, or email our support team at connections@dating-universe.com. We will review all reports and take action as needed. Reporting is confidential - the user you report will not know you filed a complaint.
False or Abusive Reports: The reporting system is a safety tool. Misusing it — for example, repeatedly filing false reports against another user to harass them or get their content removed — is itself a violation of these guidelines and may result in enforcement action against the reporter.
A Safe and Welcoming Community
By working together and following these guidelines, we can ensure Connections remains a friendly, welcoming community for everyone. Thank you for doing your part and for treating others with kindness and respect.
Happy connecting, and stay safe!
